Granted, they're crazy, but at least for me, that made me talk to everyone I saw. There's a shortage of sidequests, but the characters are much more fleshed-out and distinctive than in vanilla Oblivion.

Overall, though, I found the dialogue to be amusing, quests entertaining, and the landscapes rather interesting. Sure, you can get like one sidequest from the 4-5 villagers at each town, but if you never find the town, you're not so far out of luck. They are not at all essential to the storyline. My only real complaint is that I played through the whole game and only bumped into like one of the small villages. The sidequests are fun too, but tend to be fairly short, and there aren't anywhere near as many as Oblivion (that may be expected, though, seeing as this is an expansion). You get this quest early on and the sword is looted off a dead body and given to you. You can get this sword from completing the quest Baiting The Trap located within Xedilian. This sword can be very powerful, but if you're no killing machine you may have to keep track and pull some strings so that the sword is at its fullest potential. It's a magical weapon that needs to be charged to work effectively, and if you miss your killing streak then everything will revert back to normal. The more you kill with both versions of the sword, the more the sword itself is happy and repays you.
